Yunnan Tin Group announced on March 12 that it has signed a deal to purchase a 67% stake in Gejiu Zili Metallurgy Co., Ltd., according to Antaike in Beijing.
Yunnan Tin is the largest producer of refined tin worldwide, with 2006 output of 52,399 tonnes. The total includes production from its Singapore Tin Industries joint venture.
Gejiu Zili is a custom smelter based in the same city as Yunnan Tin and ranked fourth in China and tenth in the world in refined tin production last year, with an output of 8,990 tonnes.
