Two companies have submitted bids in the tender launched by the Bolivian government to provide equipment to expand state tin producer Empresa Minera Huanuni’s (EMH) mine complex in Oruro department, BNAmericas reported, quoting local press agency ANF. This is the second tender that has been held for the construction of a new mill at Bolivia’s largest mine.
The companies that participated in the US$50 million tender were Conalco Srl and Vicstar Machinery. The tender, launched by state miner Comibol, is for equipment for the construction of a 3,000 tpd concentration plant for EMH. The Huanuni mine, responsible for about a half of total reported Bolivian mine production, produced 4,936 tonne of tin-in-concentrate in the first half of 2010, up 7.7% on the first half of 2009.
