A revival of tin mining in the UK is on schedule for 2015, as Wolf Minerals announced that earthworks will begin this month at its Hemerdon tungsten-tin project, with construction on the site due to begin in the spring. The UKĀ£123 million project will produce some 3,500 tpy of tungsten in concentrate and 450 tpy of tin in concentrate.
Elsewhere in the UK Treliver Minerals is reported to have started a second drilling programme in Cornwall on the site of the historic Indian Queens mine. The company’s first exploration drilling work began at its Treliver Farm site last year. The company has recently acquired Saxony Mines and is funding exploration work in eastern Germany as well as the UK.
Alphamin Resources announced that a private placement of 100 million common shares for gross proceeds of $13.5 million had been agreed by the TSX Venture Exchange, on which it is listed. The company intends to use the proceeds for the further exploration and development of the Bisie tin project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mauritius-based Tremont Master Holdings will be the sole purchaser of the shares and, upon closing will own approximately 39.8% of Alphamin.
Elementos Limited is seeking shareholder approval for a share placement to raise A$1.68 million to fund work at the old Cleveland tin mine in Tasmania, including completing the environmental permit process for mine dewatering and tailings retreatment and a pre-feasibility study to redevelop the underground tin-copper mine. The PFS is due to be completed by the middle of this year.
