AIM-listed Van Dieman Mines has dismissed a director and instituted a review of its Scotia and Endurance tin projects in Tasmania.

In a statement on April 15 the company said that it had appointed Ron Goodman, previously a non-executive Director, as Executive Director, Operations to oversee the bringing of the projects into production. “In his new role, Ron has been asked by the Board to review the status of the Scotia and Endurance Projects with regard the proposed commissioning of the Scotia Mine targeted for mid 2008 and subsequent ramp up in production.”

Both mines have a planned annual capacity of some 700 tonnes of tin-in-concentrate and 1.5 million carats of mine rough, gem quality sapphires. Scotia had been due on stream last month.

The company also announced that it has removed Neil Kinnane as a director, without commenting on the reasons for the move. Kinnane was one of three founders of the company, along with former CEO Clive Trist, who departed in February, and current MD Ken Frey. The three each have shareholdings of 8% in VDM.
