Metals X announced on Friday that it was restarting operations at its Renison mine in Tasmania and expected to lose only 2-3 days production. The derailment of a freight train near the mine on Wednesday night had forced it to suspend operations temporarily. The accident damaged water pipelines and other infrastructure serving its mine and concentrator plant, but the establishment of a temporary water supply was allowing the mine to operate normally and the mill at 75% of capacity.

The Renison project (which also draws on ore from the nearby Mt Bischoff mine) has continued to increase tin production and has achieved production of approximately 1,400 tonnes of tin metal in concentrates for the March quarter, up from 887 tonnes in the December Quarter. This is close to company expectations for the period and the company expects further improvement in the ensuing quarter. At full capacity the mine should produce 8,500 tpy on tin-in-concentrate.
