Commissioning of the Metals X Renison project in Tasmania commenced on 19 June, the company has announced. Metals X said in a statement that it “has successfully manned the project with all critical positions filled and is owner-operator of its underground mining operations. Commercial tin production is poised to commence in mid-July 2008 and at a time that coincides with near record tin prices and positive tin market outlook.”
The Renison mill will treat a blend of ore from the Renison mine itself, where underground mining re-started in May, and the nearby Mt Bischoff open pit mine, re-opened in March. Expected annual production is 8,500 tpy of tin-in-concentrates.
