PT Yinchenindo Mining Industry (PTYMI) confirmed today that it had been granted a tin export licence by the Ministry of Trade. It is the third company to receive such a licence, following the state-controlled PT Timah and PT Bellitin Makmur Lestari. Both of the independent smelters are based on Belitung island.

The company expects to make its first tin shipment before the end of the month. Prior to the police clampdown on independent smelters last October, PTYMI was producing 500 tpm of refined tin.

Meanwhile PT Koba Tin is also reported to have obtained police support for its export licence application to the trade ministry, although three of its executives remain in custody facing charges of purchasing ore from illegal sources.
