Canadian based Silver Standard Resources this week confirmed the timetable for construction of its Pirquitas silver/tin/zinc mine in Argentina.

"By the fourth quarter in next November to December we hope to be able to commission the mill and then we’ll commence commercial production," company President Robert Quartermain told Reuters on Tuesday.

The open pit operation will produce some 9.6 million oz per year of silver, as well as 2,500 tpy of tin and 6,600 tpy of zinc.

Capital costs were estimated at $146 million in April 2006 but are currently being re-evaluated.
