Elementos Limited has released an upgraded JORC resource estimate for the old Cleveland tin mine in Tasmania. The indicated and inferred resources are now stated as 7.44 million tonnes of ore grading 0.73% tin, for a tin content of 48,400 tonnes. Taking into account the value of by-product contained copper, the “tin equivalent” resource is 54,300 tonnes. The new information will feed into a Pre-Feasibility Study due to be completed in the current quarter.

In a statement the company said that “there is excellent potential for further exploration of the Cleveland tin-copper mineralisation. The definition and prioritisation of Exploration Targets is continuing, and the results will be reported separately when completed. The main tin-bearing lenses remain open at depth and along strike, and there are tin-copper drilling intersections beyond the limits of the current Mineral Resource. There are also near surface tin and copper targets that will be investigated further.”

Apart from the old tin-copper underground mine, Elementos is also looking at the potential for tailings re-treatment (with an estimated 11,500 tonnes contained tin) and the development of a separate tungsten orebody.
