Wolf Minerals has awarded a UKĀ£85 million contract to CA Blackwell to be mining contractor at its open pit tungsten-tin project in Devon, UK. The contract is split into pre-stripping and mine development over eleven months, followed by five years of mine production of three million tonnes per year of ore. Wolf will advise Blackwell of the formal commencement date for the project work , which it is currently expected to be in March 2014, dependent upon the progress of the project schedule.
Last month Wolf Minerals commenced a UKĀ£75 million engineering procurement and construction with GR Engineering Services for the processing plant and related infrastructure at the mine. The operation is expected to produce 3,500tpy of wolframite tungsten concentrates with a grade of 65% WO3 and 450tpy of 40% tin concentrates.
