Metals X is due to re-start underground mining at the Renison mine in Tasmania in May, and at the same time will commence ore shipments to Renison from the nearby Mt Bischoff open pit operation. The Renison concentrator is reported to be on track for first concentrate production in mid-June. Expected annual production is 8,500 tpy of tin-in-concentrates. A bankable feasibility study on the treatment of tailings from the mine is due to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
As the Renison operations starts up, Metals X’s Collingwood mine in Queensland will be put on care and maintenance. The mine produced 483 tonnes of tin-in-concentrates in the March quarter and generated a positive cash flow of A$1.08 million. The company is considering a scaled-down operation to recover remaining economic reserves there. Following further exploration, the Collingwood resource estimate has been revised to 642,000 tonnes grading 1.19% Sn.
