Bolivia’s state-owned Huanuni mine is expected to produce 9,320 tonnes of tin-in-concentrate in 2009, up by 18% compared to last year and a new record for the operation.

An official from Bolivia’s mining and metallurgy ministry told Business News Americas that "in early December the company already reported 9,200 tonnes in tin production. In other words, the company has already set a production record in 2009 thanks to the recovery in metal prices over the last few months."

Daily ore throughput at the mine has already increased from around 1,000 tpd last year to some 1,500 tpd now and the Bolivian government is currently working on plans to expand to 3,000 tpd in the next few years.
