A three-day strike at the Huanuni tin mine in Bolivia over productivity bonuses was settled on Thursday.
The dispute was over the scale of productivity payments for March, when production at the mine reached a recent record level. A similar short strike occurred in March in support of claims for bonuses for above-target January production.
Production was also disrupted in the last week of April when large numbers of workers travelled to Sucre to demonstrate in favour of the nationalisation of co-operative workings in the area in November 2006.
Since the re-organisation of the operation, in which thousands of co-operative workers were taken on to the payroll of state mining company Comibol, reported production has been 501 tonnes in December, 632 tonnes in January, 509 tonnes in February and 675 tonnes in March.
