Bolivian President Evo Morales and Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chávez have signed a deal to sell 750 tonnes of tin from Bolivia’s Vinto metallurgical complex (EMV) to Venezuela for US$10.5 million, according to BNamericas, quoting press reports in both countries. Last year, Venezuela bought 60 tonnes of tin for US$ 1million, EMV head Ramiro Villavicencio said. The agreement was reached during a state visit by Chávez to Bolivia. The heads of state also signed agreements related to energy, hydrocarbons, mining, finance, economy and production, among others.

EMV produced 11,520 tonnes of refined tin in 2010 and is due to install a new Ausmelt furnace by the end of this year, with commissioning due by February 2012.
