Bolivia’s Empresa Metalurgica Vinto is negotiating a one year contract with China’s Minmetals. "The deal is initially for 100 tonnes a month over three months, but we want to extend to a year," a company source told Platts Commodity News on Monday.

The Vinto operation, nationalized in February, had previously come to similar deals with other customers, including former owners Glencore International, at the end of July. Apart from Glencore the other main existing counter-parties are Toyoda and RJH Trading.

The Bolivian company also continues to make spot sales, mainly for small lots to South American customers.
